Diary of a Bad Cook

How to eat green peppers

In the summer of 2022 I was on the internet looking for ways to eat goya!

So it's bitter melon in Okinawa prefecture!

Okinawa Prefecture is said to have more longevity

I also looked up how to eat this melon to be healthy!

Bitter melon is said to lose its bitter taste when mixed with meat and other ingredients and seasoned thickly.

But the bitterness doesn't seem to go away.

I looked up and found a book on how to cook bell peppers by Tamori, a famous Japanese celebrity.

He says he won't eat bell peppers unless he eats them this way.

I always thought peppers were best stuffed with minced meat and baked.

There will be an excess of peppers.

That's why I decided to make this dish.

Wash 4 bell peppers, remove seeds and stems, and cut into 4 to 6 pieces.

Heat salad oil in a pan and sauté the peppers over medium heat until lightly browned.

Add 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon mirin, 1 tablespoon sake, 50 CC water and a little soup stock, and cook for about 3 minutes until the green bell pepper becomes soft.

Serve on a plate and sprinkle with bonito flakes.

I see. It's delicious.

It's a little strong in flavor, so it might go well with bitter melon.

Today I ate it over thick fried bean curd.
